This plate is carved from Honkomatsu stone, a rare and revered material quarried in Manazuru, Kanagawa. Known for its deep history in Japanese architecture, from Edo Castle walls to temple gardens, Honkomatsu stone carries with it a legacy of strength, refinement, and natural beauty.
The surface is adorned with an engraved wave motif, evoking the ocean that has shaped Manazuru’s landscape and culture. The natural texture of the stone, combined with its subtle blue-gray hues, creates a striking contrast that makes each plate unique.
Perfect as a serving plate for seasonal dishes, a sushi or sashimi presentation tray, or as an artisanal display piece, this work merges tradition with contemporary design.
